I haven't really done an update on what everyone's up to lately so here goes. We'll start with the youngest, Kate. She's talking a lot lately and is definitely showing her almost two-ness. Her favorite phrases, "I do it", " I see you", "I hungry". She was still getting up occassionally in the middle of the night and banging on her door, even though she has mastered opening doors. But in the last couple of weeks we discovered that if we left her door open she actually stays in her bed. At least until about 5 or 6 when she comes walking into our room and then hops into our bed for another hour or so of sleep. The other morning she came in around 6:30 and was wide awake and said to Kaleb, "tummy", "hungry", "cereal?". So needless to say, she has become pretty adept at letting us know what she wants and needs.
Lucy has started preschool and is loving it. She has a new friend that she likes to play with at preschool too. She's also learning her letters and how to write them. Recently she has informed us that Dora and Barney "are for babies". Probably because that's what Kate likes right now. (Although, if Kate is watching she'll watch right along with her) Lucy's hair has gotten quite long lately and I think a good chopping is in her future. I just don't want to cut it too short because her hair is so wavy/curly. We'll see about that one.
Cyrus is in third grade and is making leaps and bounds. His handwriting has improved this year, and a little more so now that he's learning cursive. I also see him being able to focus a little better on the task that he's working on. He's also starting to practice piano more. He's been taking lessons since January, and I was really ready to drop them since he didn't seem that interested, but the last month he has really been working a lot harder at learning his songs and actually practicing more. Yay!! He's still pretty interested in science and has started reading the series of "Percy Jackson" books. Yesterday, he and a friend found a new class pet on the playground. It's a caterpillar who got voted the name "Bob"!
Abe is in sixth grade!! He is still loving football, watching as many games as we will let him. He stays pretty on top of the rankings, and also loves to play it at school. He's always coming home with a new bruise or scrape that he gained while intercepting a ball or scoring a touchdown. Last week someone elbowed him in the face and broke his glasses, which resulted in a cut above his eye (not too worried about the $8 glasses). It's supposed to be flag football, but sometimes I wonder? Abe's also got a job this week as the vice president at their school's bank. (I'm pretty sure he's not getting paid, unfortunately) Abe is also running for student council vice president this week, so we're crossing our fingers for him!! He also has begun taking orchestra at school, playing the violin. There are only two in the sixth grade orchestra, and this is the other boy's second year so Abe is going to have private lessons for a couple of months to hopefully catch him up .
Kaleb is still busy at work, like usual. At church last Sunday, the Spanish branch that met in our building got dissolved and incorporated into our ward so that means that he will probably be a little/a lot more busy at church. Not to mention his huge "honey-do" list that I have made for him to work on house improvements and repairs. Needless to say that the poor guy doesn't have "free time" in his vocabulary right now. I love the fact that he's always trying to make our lives easier and how much he's devoted to serving others in his calling. He's really a great man!!!
As for me, you hear about me all the time so I'll give you a break for now!! Other than to tell you after my last ultrasound, we have discovered it's definitely a boy!!! I'm at 30 weeks (I think?) with only 10 more weeks to go. Hallelujah!! Oh, I did order a new camera with all the money I received for my birthday (Thanks Dad, Mom, and Grandma!!!) YAY!!!! So hopefully by next week I will be downloading pictures left and right. And all you people who we don't live next to and haven't seen in a while will be saying, "who are these people? I'd forgotten what they looked like!!"
