Easter- Texas style

This year for Easter we got to go to Texas to spend Easter with my dad.  We left on Thursday afternoon, thanks to a very generous school break giving the kids a five day weekend.  Friday we spent getting reacquainted with civilization, namely in form of some shopping!!!  Saturday, my grandma and her husband, Ewald made the two and a half hour trip to my dad's house to come see us.  My poor grandma had elbow surgery about a month ago and is still recovering, and she also had a touch of a cold, so I know she wasn't feeling terrific, but I'm so grateful that she still came.  She also knows that if she hadn't come to my dad's we would have stormed her house!!!  Yikes, that would be enough to do in any 80ish year old woman!!  This was the first time all of my Texas relatives have met Eli so it was fun to show off his chubby cheeks!

Ewald had brought some of his to-die-for ribs to contribute to our lunch on the grill.  I showed some serious restraint by only eating three.  I could tell my dad was rationing them, and conveniently had several left over that he stashed in the fridge for later (yeah, I saw you Dad!!)  We also had a little Easter egg hunt for all the kids afterwards.

Sunday we went to my dad's church.  Kate even participated in the sermon.  The pastor was telling the Easter story and said, kind of loudly, "Rabboni" and Kate shouted out "Rabboni".  He was really good about it, saying something like, "Yes, there probably was an echo in the cave".  After church we just hung out and for dinner we had tacos (which might be a new tradition for us!).  Monday morning we headed back and had a nice uneventful (minus the normal little fights, occassional yelling of "Stop teasing your sister!", and bickering over which movie they were going to watch).  Even Eli did pretty good!!  Thanks Dad and Suzan and Grandma Doris and Grandpa Ewald.  We had a great time!!!
