Odds and ends pictures of Summer Vacay

I have been working on playing catch-up on the blog. I think I've been working on this post for a week. So sorry it's so long and inclusive! It's basically the stuff we did the last couple of weeks before school started.

A couple weeks ago at our county fair they had a balloon artist that was making balloon creations for free. Lucy was the only one who waited in line and was rewarded with a butterfly.
The boys checking out the tractors at the fair.
At the fair they also had a whole bunch of free inflatables for the kids to play on. Abe had a blast on the fly on the wall one. There weren't even a lot of kids so they got to play on them for as long as they liked.
A couple of weeks ago, Abe earned his Bear award in Boy Scouts. Go Abe!!!
Kiira, my niece, looking beautiful before her baptism.
When we went to see Kaleb's grandpa, Kaleb's nephew left his car on and the doors locked. They were trying to jimmy the lock open. It took about thirty minutes, a couple of coat hangers, and about eight relatives, but they eventually got it unlocked. Who needs a locksmith?!
This is Kaleb's grandfather. It had been awhile since we had seen him so it was nice to drop by for a brief visit. (Can you tell it was a little hot and sticky outside!)

A simulation at Exploration Place of a tornado (at least tornado-strength winds)

Cy checking out the erosion exhibit at Exploration Place.
I finally was able to put the boys in a bubble.

They had a really cool pretend castle at Exploration Place complete with costumes and a throne. Here's Queen Lucy and the dragon Abe.

This last weekend we made our yearly pilgrimage to Kaleb's birthplace for his family reunion. It's a reunion of all the descendants of his great grandparents, although his brothers and sisters make up half the people who attend it. The majority of the other half is all of his aunt's kids. We were able to tour the farmhouse where his great-grandfather and his large family lived at the beginning of the 1900s. One of Kaleb's cousins bought it a few years ago and has been slowly restoring it. It was kind of neat to think that generations of Kentners had called the place home. Many of his great-grandfather's descendants have not strayed far from the area of southern Missouri where they grew up. It's kind of neat to adopt and research his genealogy since much of mine (at least on my mom's side) is unknown to me.
We also went to Kansas City to see my niece's baptism on Saturday before heading down to southern Missouri for the reunion. And then Monday on the way home we stopped at Exploration Place, a children's hands-on science museum, in Wichita.
