Moving in

This past month has been a pretty busy one.  We closed on our house at the end of the month, which was then followed by a flurry of home improvement including removing wallpaper from our living room/dining room, kitchen, and hallway.  I ran out of steam (figuratively speaking) and left wallpaper in two bedrooms still.  Then we installed hardwood flooring in the same area that I removed wallpaper from.  Once the flooring was in we moved in on Memorial Day, which made for a really hectic "holiday" that I hope never to repeat again!  I took a few days off to rest (and find where my clothes had been packed, along with various other necessities), and then we took on the task of painting in the upstairs area. Last week I chose this bluish color that I wasn't too sure about and began painting swatches of it here and there.  Then I freaked out, thinking it was just too light and powdery, so I went back to the store and bought three gallons of a much darker shade of blue (think blue masking tape).  We painted the whole dining room, living room area this blue masking tape color.  By that evening I knew I really hated it.  I cringed every time I walked into the room.  So...we (by "we" I really mean "I") decided that it was best to just go with the first blue color.  We then spent about six hours on Saturday repainting the living room/dining room area, throwing another coat of paint on the kitchen, and then painting the hallway too.  I have to tell you when it was all done I stepped back and realized I REALLY loved the powdery blue color (which was a good thing, because neither of us had the energy or desire to paint anything else).  As we were swifly finishing up the painting, a friend of ours came to help put in our new white baseboards.  By Saturday night we had the upstairs 90% finished, which felt great!  We still want to put up crown moulding (which we need to do pretty soon, since we didn't paint all the way to the ceiling), buy and install a new front door, and eventually put in new kitchen cabinets (like in a few years).  It also needs new paint in every single room and carpet in the basement and bedrooms.  Needless to say, it will be a long time before everything is completely up to date.
So, by now you're probably asking, "why in the heck did they buy a money pit?" The main reason is the location and the backyard.  The backyard is my new oasis.  It has a covered porch area, and has the most beautiful greenest, softest grass (which is really hard to come by here in these parts,  usually the yard  is scraggly weeds with a whole lot of little burrs that stick to everything) and a sprinkler system to keep it that way.  The backyard also has a little playset with a slide AND the cutest little playhouse that the previous owners converted from a full size shed complete with insulation, a little play kitchen set, and laminate wood flooring.  It's in better shape than the house!  Once I saw the little playhouse I knew I could live with the house.  It is so quiet and peaceful here too.  We live on a quiet street, a block away from an elementary school.  I love to go outside and hear the doves cooing and just enjoy the outdoors.
Hopefully soon I will find the cord to my camera and can download some pictures or maybe someone (cough, cough, Kaleb) will buy me a new camera, and I can end this picture drought!
