I love my DVR!!!!!

About a month ago we finally moved out of the dark ages, of tv, that is. We got a DVR!!!! Wooohooo!!!! I was so excited!! The first thing I did was pause live tv and then fast forward to get back to live tv. Next I began scheduling the DVR to record all the shows that I previously couldn't watch because they were on at the same time as my other shows. Then I began to schedule recording shows that I usually watch. After that I scheduled recording shows that I never watch but I might be interested in watching sometime in the future. Well, as you can imagine, by the end of my first week having the DVR I had a humongous list of recorded shows that there was no possible way to catch up on.
I think I have finally pared it down to just recording shows that I usually like to watch but not all the way through. For example, today I thinked I watched three episodes of "Martha Stewart" in one hour. And let me tell you, it was wonderful!!! I was able to zip zip zip through the boring talking segments at the beginning, zip zip zip through the boring endless chatter with her guests, and zip zip zip through the entire gardening segments (really, who wants to listen to gardening tips in November?), not to mention zip zip zipping through the commercials. This technique is also helpful in watching other talk shows, like one of my favorites, The Ellen Degeneres show (I was only able to fit two episodes into an hour). Fast forward through the clapping at the beginning (there's alot of clapping!!!), fast forward through part of the monologue (depending on how interesting it is), and best of all fast forwarding through the commercials (who watches commercials anymore?). I love it!! The only downside is that I think I actually watch more tv now than I did before the DVR. With the possibillity of all those tv shows just sitting there waiting to be recorded how can I resist?

I love DVR!!! I find myself watching to rewind everything, like when I'm in the car listening to the radio, I always want to rewind it to catch what they just said :)
