Pie-palooza and How Thanksgiving Went Down

This year for Thanksgiving as in the last thirteen out of the past fourteen years we went to the Kentner family Thanksgiving reunion. (They don't really call it that but they should!) Each year some poor sibling and their family generously volunteer to host it at their house, beginning the cohabitation of 30-40 of Kaleb's closest family members and their children. This year it was at his sister's house in Illinois, which for us is about fourteen VERY LONG hours away. Although, this year we finally got smart and bought the best invention know to parents on long car trips: the dual screen dvd player and tv. Can you say AHHHHHHH. A special shoutout also to all the redboxes between here and Paris, Illinois, which made a long trip bearable!
According to Kentner family Thanksgiving tradition all of Kaleb's brothers and sisters and their families meet together to eat, watch some football, and spend the general part of three days having fun, talking about each other, and eating some more. This yearly event occassionally includes a shouting match between a few of the adults, but luckily this year everyone pretty much behaved themselves (it helped that not ALL the siblings came).
But boy, oh boy there was a LOT of food!!! For Thanksgiving meal we had a fried turkey (delicious), a smoked turkey, a ham, and a smoked pork tenderloin (which was to die for!!), that's not mentioning the no less than ten side dishes and the pies. There are also ALWAYS a LOT of pies. This year was no exception. There was pumpkin pie, apple pie (at least that was the rumor, I didn't see it myself), blueberry pie, pecan pie, cherry pie, grasshopper pie, peanut butter pie, three different variations of tollhouse pie (the chocolate one being my all-time favorite pie!), pumpkin pecan pie, cream pies, and, chances are, there were some other pies that got eaten before I got a chance to even see them. It was all sooooo good! The only side effects of this mass gathering is that everyone goes home a couple of pounds(or more, depending on how much pie they consumed) heavier, and inevitably someone gets sick on the way home. This year we came home with the few extra pounds, pinkeye (which I'm pretty sure that we started and probably passed on to some unsuspecting relative, sorry!!), and some digestive disorders (you know what I mean!!). But other than that it was pretty good!!!
