Cy's Baptism

Cy decided that while we were in Illinois with family that he wanted to be baptized. So we planned on having it the day after Thanksgiving, starting at 5:00. Around 4 we got a call from the bishopric member who was going to fill up the font for the baptism, saying that he had just arrived at the church and there was no power and he wasn't sure why. So we began to take our time getting ready. My brother-in-law, Bob, who lives there, went up to the church to see if he could help solve the problem. So about 5 we got a call from Bob saying that he had found a rather crispy squirrel who had gotten into the transformer, and so they were going to call the power company. While we were waiting, not knowing when exactly the power company was going to arrive and how long it was going to take, we began brainstorming alternatives to getting baptized at the church font. The most popular one was taking Cy out to the creek behind the house and doing it. The only problem was that the high temperature for the day was in the low 40s and the temperature in the creek would have been chilly, to say in the least. Luckily for Cy, it didn't take long for the power company to resolve the problem. Unfortunately when we got there we discovered there was only adult sized baptismal clothes. So Cy ended up wearing a humongous jumpsuit that we safety-pinned so he could walk. I think Kaleb was a bit nervous too, because he had to say the baptismal prayer four times (once Cy's toe came up) to get it right. In spite of all the mishaps it was a beautiful baptism with a sweet spirit present. It was a really special experience that I'm sure Cy will never forget. (Oh and to top it off my camera wasn't working so my sister-in-law took pictures that are forthcoming!)
