Halloween and Candy-palooza

This year we had an interesting Halloween.  I procrastinated making Kate's costume until Saturday afternoon, a few hours before our ward trunk-or-treat (that I helped to plan and run) and it didn't turn out so good.  I attempted to make her a little mermaid skirt with some cool blue sequined material.  Unfortunately I didn't have a pattern and sequins, it turns out are a little hard to sew (I should have remembered that from watching "Project Runway"!) so what I ended up with was a funky looking blue skirt with some wannabe, sad-looking fish tail.   So I ended up going with my "back-up" costume, which happens to be a frequently worn, slightly hole-y bear costume that I made for Abe ten years ago.  Aaack!!  Sorry Kate!  I also forgot to take pictures before the trunk-or-treat, because it got crazy-busy so these are post trunk-or-treat (hence the frazzled costumes!)

Abe followed his passion for football and wanted to be a football player.

Lucy decided to be a witch this year.

Cyrus, being the original he is, decided to go as a woodsman.  At the church in the gym where they have wood floors he kept taking Kate by the feet and dragging her around.  She actually loved it, and it was kind of funny to see the woodsman drag around his bear.

The next day they thoroughly enjoyed the candy-fest that ensued.  Kate really enjoyed being able to eat a whole lot of candy.  She kept taking off the wrappers off her suckers, tasting them, and then putting them down so she could open another sucker and do the same.  In the picture she has a sucker in each hand and one in her mouth.  All-in-all it was a pretty good Halloween!
