Yesterday was an interesting and momentous day! I got up early and took my boys to vote! We waited on line for about 30 minutes, which was not too bad. If you tuned into any type of media yesterday it seemed like a holiday. The news people had pretty much determined who was going to win pretty early in the day although they played cautious about announcing an official winner. I tried to stay up and watch all the results coming in but fell asleep around 9. Fortunately I woke up around 11:00 and was able to catch the official results. I knew my guy had probably lost and turned out to be right, although it didn't feel as bad as I thought it would. I was able to catch Obama's acceptance speech at around 11 and all I can say is wow! What an amazing and eloquent orator! If you haven't had the chance to hear it please make an effort to do so (especially if you voted for McCain).
I really felt that despite the negative jabs each candidate took at each other that both men were honorable and true gentlemen. (unlike past democratic candidates like Al Gore, who was a total tool and John Kerry, who was a pompous aristocrat) If a democrat had to win I'm glad it was Obama. Although he is short on experience (in my eyes) I think it brings hope (sorry for the cliche word) to ALL the children of this nation, that they can indeed become President of the United States, no matter what color of skin they have. I hope that Obama continues to try to unify the country. He and the mostly democratic senate have a large task ahead of them if they aim to keep all their campaign promises.
