Vinegar is not just for pickles!

I love vinegar! Yes, I know...I'm weird. The reason why I love vinegar is because it finally got the funky scent of left-too-long-in-the-washer smell out of my towels. A friend had recommended putting it in the wash to get bad smells out of clothes but I was a little skeptical and so I didn't try it until this past week. I have a front loader and was afraid to put it in the detergent bin so I soaked a particularly heinous smelling hand towel in it (used about a cup? of vinegar) and threw it in the washer. I put in my regular detergent (Tide, which usually works wonders!) and started a load of the aforementioned funky smelling towels with the vinegar-soaked hand towel. When the cycle was complete I pulled them out and ... voila! no more smell! (They didn't smell like vinegar either). There was one hand towel that smelled vaguely but I just rewashed with vinegar and it disappeared. YAY! I am so happy that I don't have stinky towels anymore! It's the little things in life that make me happy!

So you put a cup of vinegar in a load of wash? I'm definitely going to try this! Thanks for the tip!

You can also put it in your dishwasher to keep grease from sticking to things like bottle nipples, pacifiers and tupperware! I am so going to try the laundry thing too!

I have always wanted to try this. I think I heard it from Heather at one time, but I've been afraid to put it in our front load washer too. We have hard water so if they sit in there for any more than a few minutes they start to stink.

Thanks for the tip! (I'm using Tide now too-the clothes are actually clean when they come out)
