Family Reunion in Missouri

Lilly and Lucy learning some schooling.

What a good looking couple of dairy farmers!
All the kids fought over who got to "milk the cow". Fortunately it was just water that came out of the udders. Otherwise, it would have been an "udderly" milky mess.

This past weekend we took a whirlwind trip to Missouri for Kaleb's family reunion. While we were in Kansas City we went to a place called the Deanna Rose Farm. (I think that's the name?) It's like a learning farm where they have tons of hands-on farm exhibits, including petting goats and milking fake cows. Kaleb's brother, Jason, and sister, Melinda and their families were also there so there were a lot of kids.

On Sunday we went to the actual reunion. It's where all the Kentners get together. Actually it's a reunion of all of Kaleb's dad's grandfather's six? siblings (even though there's only one still living) and all of their descendants. You would think that there would be a lot of people there but for the most part it's attended by mostly those 60 and older. It's kind of sad to see that eventually there won't be many left to get together. Most of the time Kaleb and his siblings and all their kids make up 1/3 to 1/2 of everyone there. Sadly a couple of his siblings have decided to stop coming since their dad passed away. For Kaleb and I it seems even more important to preserve the family's connection to their past and to each other. For me it's important because growing up I only had one cousin that I saw inconsistently. I think its a blessing for my kids to grow up knowing they have so many people that they are not only connected to but who love them.
