This last weekend we celebrated Abe's first decade, his 10th birthday. Yikes! I can't believe it's already been ten years since he was born. It really has gone by fast. It's amazing to see how much he has grown up and all the things he has learned in ten years (hopefully most of them good). He was my first baby and as I tell him often he will always be my "baby Abey" and my little "jujubee" (it's probably better if I don't call him those nicknames in front of his friends but I might bring it out during his teenage years just for a little humility).
Anyways... Wednesday I found out that my dad was coming up for the weekend and to help celebrate Abe's birthday. Actually I think he was seriously bored (he's a teacher out for summer vacation) and wanted to see us kids. We hadn't seen him since Christmas so it was a really nice visit. We didn't tell the kids he was coming we just told him they had a surprise on Thursday so all day Thursday they kept asking, "What's the surprise? What's the surprise?" Then around five I told them to look out the window for their surprise and there was my dad driving into our driveway. Abe was pretty funny when he said, "Grandpa Tim?? What's he doing here?" It turned out to be a really good surprise. (I'm really shocked they weren't tipped off when I started cleaning the house like a mad woman since the only time I clean that much is when someone is coming over)
For Abe's birthday my dad took all the boys out to see "Ice Age" and then we went out to dinner at IHOP (Abe's choice) and then came back to our house for cake and presents. I think it was a pretty good birthday and a pretty good weekend.
