I am a big fat liar. That moratorium didn't really last. Friday, Kaleb informed me that we were supposed to bring a dessert for our ward's Pioneer Day celebration. That was all the okay I needed. I figured that if I weren't technically baking just for myself, that there were a whole lot of people that NEEDED to eat some baked goods, it was technically performing an act of charity, right? So I decided to make some chocolate cupcakes (the recipe on the back of the Hershey's Cocoa box) and frost with chocolate buttercream frosting. Then as I was about to make them I thought, "Why not double the recipe?". So instead of making just 30 cupcakes, which I figured the kids would all take and probably just lick the frosting off (like what my own kids do), that I would give everyone a chance to taste one by making 66 cupcakes. Yes, I said it...66 cupcakes. I think I might have gotten just a little carried away in a baking frenzy. I also topped half my cupcakes with peanut butter frosting and then I had some with a thin layer of pb frosting topped by the chocolate buttercream. I think I only ate two cupcakes (licking the bowl post-icing doesn't count, does it?) Although, I was very fortunate not to have to take home any cupcakes at the end of the night.
I think forbidding myself to bake made the craving to bake much worse so I might just allow a once (okay, maybe twice?) a week bake. I've already vowed to run really long tomorrow to make my last pound just fall off by Tuesday.
