Lucy is on her third and final cast. They have been having her wear her cast for two weeks and then she goes into the doctor's office to have it taken off and x-rayed, which at first, I thought, "Why take it off every two weeks?", but seeing how dirty it gets after two weeks I think it's a good thing. She had a neon pink cast first, and then purple, and now she is wearing a bright neon green cast. I think Cy talked her into the green? With the cast on, we haven't been to the pool at all this summer. She's getting the cast off for good, I hope, at the end of this month. It would have been earlier but, apparently, the doctors are going on vacation so she gets to wear it longer. Lucky lucky us.
Kate just had her 9 month checkup and she is 18 lbs 4 oz and growing pretty good. She's almost crawling. She gets around by getting on her hands and knees and then sitting down again over and over again. She's also very vocal (no surprise there).
Cy is just reading away and playing and reading some more. He loves the Magic Tree House series and I think he's pretty close to having read them all. We hope to get him back on his bike again. Two years ago he was learning to ride it and doing a pretty good job until he had a minor fall that scared him into just riding his bike with training wheels. I think he finally realized he can't use training wheels when he's twenty so he's ready to get back on without training wheels.
I'm working with Abe to complete his Bear scout book before his birthday this Friday. He will be into the double digits. The big 1-0!!!! It's amazing that it's been that long since he was just a little baby! I'll probably post some more about that this weekend, but for now enjoy some random pics of our summer so far.
Abe getting a haircut by the "barber" in our backyard.
The "barber" cleaning up. Despite what it looks like, the boys loved getting sprayed by dad.
Here's a picture of the three kids last month in the "foxhole" at our local zoo. (Obviously before Lucy broke her arm)
