Pictures of THE big hole in the ground

Read the next blog entry first if you want to know what the pictures are about!!
This is Powell Point, one of the western points on the south rim. You walk out onto a very narrow walkway, with both sides of the walkway leading straight down into the canyon, to get to the monument. On the front side of the monument is another very small strip of land to a lookout over the canyon. This was one of my favorite views. We didn't get to look very long though, because Lucy announced she needed to "go". Oh well.
Kaleb and Abe towards the end of the day riding the shuttle bus.

This was Mather Point, the first stop we made and also the most popular among the tourists. It was amazing to hear all the different languages being spoken from people around the world. Notice also Cy being Cy. It was surprising at how few rails there were around the edge of the canyon. It's also amazing that more people don't fall off. I was worried one of the kids would trip while they were walking, or playing around and accidentally go over so I was constantly saying, "Be careful!!!" or "Don't go so close!!!" At the bookstore they had a book called "Death at the Grand Canyon" which was not all that comforting.

This is also Mather Point. Guess who took the picture. I took alot of pictures of my mom and
I think she ended up with a lot of me!! ha ha! This is a topographical map of the canyon that we examined in the visitor's center.
Here's Grandma Cleo (my mom) and Abe chillin' on the edge.
Lucy fell asleep on the bus. I don't blame her!!
