Today we did one of my favorite Saturday rituals: shopping at Sam's Club. I should preface this by saying that we live in a fairly small town in Kansas and there are only a handful of stores to shop in our town so when a new business opens(especially a well known one) than it is the talk of the town. Sam's Club recently opened so we decided to get a membership. At first I really wanted a membership more for entertainment purposes than for a place to shop(it's one more place my husband and I can go on a date, woohoo!!!) When it first opened and we were virgin bulk buyers we walked through the store with wide eyes gawking at the humongous bags of everything. I really thought "Who in their right mind would buy this stuff?" Now I know that I'm probably not in my right mind! My first bulk "experience" was a purchase of an industrial size bag of mozzarella cheese and a 6 lb can of peanut butter. When I first opened the mozzarella cheese it dawned on me that maybe this was a good thing because it meant less trips to the grocery store!!! (especially to that evil store, Wal-Mart, where you can NEVER buy JUST the things you came for)
Anyways, back to the free samples . . . Every Saturday they have TONS of free samples of products that they sell. (I love it because I think they realize that people come just for the samples and they're not all rude when you don't actually buy the product) Today totally rocked!!!!! In the deli section they had bite size pieces of cheeses. Some very tasty Swiss and Fontina cheese. Ooo la la! I also partook of a delectable salad of baby greens and oranges resting on a parmesan cheese crisp and bathed in a tangy vinagraitte. Can you say "mmmmmmm!" Then I indulged in some dainty triangles of spanikopita. I bypassed the hot wings, the franks in a blanket, and then I closed my ears and sang a song when they announced the free samples of double layer filled cake. I'm sure that would have been way too delicious! (Sorry for all the food porn, I have a serious problem)
We then checked out with the package of 264 diapers (hopefully it will last us a few weeks), the 5 lb. bag of pasta, and a few other odds and ends. Afterwards, we proceeded to my other favorite part of the Saturday Sam's Club experience which consists of buying lunch for my entire family for under $13. I love that place!

I know we're sisters! I also have a deep love of tasty free food -- gotta love the gigantic $1.50 slices of pizza too :) ....i'm hungry now!
Oh man, we decided not to go this Saturday and now I'm sad that we missed such good samples. Maybe next Saturday.
