We have the plague
Thursday afternoon Lucy woke up from her nap and her left eye was all puffy red. She's had alittle bit of a cold the last couple of weeks so I thought, "Oh, it's probably just some snot drainage" (sorry to gross you out!). Well, Friday morning it looked even worse; it was really swollen and all watery, so I thought "we better have it checked out" so I called the doctor's office and they were almost going to prescribe eyedrops for pink eye over the phone, but instead had me talk to the nurse first. I have to preface this by saying that none of my kids has ever had pink eye (I know, we have been very lucky!) so I didn't really know what it looked like. When I talked to the nurse she suggested I bring her in since it wasn't really pussing (sorry again). So I took her in and even the doctor had questions that it was pink eye so he put some eyedrops in her eye and used a flourescent light just to make sure that her eye didn't have a scratch in it instead. I have to say that Lucy did very well while he was doing this. She only wanted me to hold her hand and she didn't even cry! He ruled out the scratch and determined it was indeed pink eye. So now we are putting eye drops in four times a day, which is kind of a traumatic event. One of us has to hold her down while the other one has to pry open her eye enough (by this point she is trying very hard to shut them) to put in not one, but two eye drops. We've also had to keep her away from Kate. It's been a swell couple of days. After today I'll take her out of quarantine.

I'm sorry. I'm relived it's just pink eye. I had a sudden thought that I'd passed on my crap through our husbands. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to strangle me after that.
Colton has an eye infection too. I've been putting eyedrops in his eyes for 5 days counting today. Our nurse just said to put the drops in the corner of his eyes even if he had them shut tight and that he would blink and get some of the drops in. I held Colton down too the first time and couldn't do it again...lol! Colton and Lucy haven't seen each other for over two weeks so they couldn't have caught it from each other...but how random that they both have it at the same time...
